Little Critters And Mixed Reality Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing problems with playing Little Critters, below are some solutions to the most common problems.

Can I play on my Quest 1, Quest 2 or Quest Pro?

Little Critters is only supported on Quest 3 and 3S as it uses special mixed reality features that aren't supported on older devices.

If you have bought the game for an unsupported headset, please request a refund.

The critters are passing through furniture or moving around obstacles that aren't there

When scanning your room, take your time for the best accuracy and make sure you look into room corners and around furniture.

If the layout of the room has changed since your last room scan then you will need to rescan your room. You can do this when prompted when first starting the game.

If you have tried rescanning but having problems with the room scan not updating, see the question below.

Very occasionally Meta's room tracking system can have problems with identifying your room correctly. The best solution is to clear out your existing scans. Here are the steps to do this:

  1. Quit Little Critters
  2. Open the Quest 'Settings' app inside the headset
  3. On the left side navigate to the 'Environment setup' category (you may have to scroll down to see the category)
  4. Choose the 'space setup' option
  5. Under 'Manage your spaces' click the 'Clear' button to remove your old room scans
  6. Click the 'Set up' button to scan your room again.

When scanning your room again, take your time for the best accuracy and make sure you look into room corners and around furniture.

After you have completed these steps, you can start up the game again. To ensure that the Quest recognises your room correctly when the game starts, stand near to the middle of the room.

The game starts and the music is playing but I can't progress.

A bug in Meta's Horizon OS can sometimes cause a problem with the room scanning feature. The best solution is to update to the latest version of Horizon OS and clear out your existing room scans. Here are the steps to do this:

To update to the latest version of Horizon OS:
  1. Quit Little Critters
  2. Open the Quest 'Settings' app inside the headset
  3. On the left side navigate to the 'General' category
  4. Choose the 'Software update' option
  5. Press the 'Update' button to start updating
  6. You will need to restart the headset for the update to complete
To clear out your existing room scans:
  1. Quit Little Critters
  2. Open the Quest 'Settings' app inside the headset
  3. On the left side navigate to the 'Privacy & safety' category (you may have to scroll down to see the category)
  4. Choose the 'Device permissions' option
  5. Under the 'Spatial Data' section, next to 'Delete enhanced spatial services spatial data from Meta servers', press the 'Delete' button
  6. Next to 'Clear physical space history', press the 'Clear' button
  7. Turn off your headset and back on again.

When you start Little Critters, you will be asked to scan you room. When scanning your room again, take your time for the best accuracy and make sure you look into room corners and around furniture.

After you have completed these steps, you can start up the game again. To ensure that the Quest recognises your room correctly when the game starts, stand near to the middle of the room.

I'm seeing the message "Oops! There was a problem setting up the game in this room. Ensure you are playing in a well-lit room with plenty of space."

This message can appear if the game is having problems identifying the playable space in your room. We recommend a room of at least 2m x 2m in size to play. If you are still seeing this message appear in a larger, well-lit room, clear out your existing room scans by following the instructions under I'm having a problem with updating my room scan / The game is showing the wrong room.

How do I enable hand tracking?

You will first need to ensure that hand and body tracking is enabled on your device. Follow these steps from Meta to switch it on and follow the system tutorial to familiarise yourself with how hand tracking works.

To play with hand tracking, simply put down your controllers on a flat surface that won't be disturbed. Avoid putting them on an uneven surface like a couch or bed. The Quest should automatically switch to hand tracking input.

In Little Critters, you can swap seamlessly between hand tracking and controllers at any time.

I'm having problems with hand tracking accuracy

Before you start playing with hand tracking, make sure that you put your controllers down on a flat surface that won't be disturbed. Sometimes when putting a controller on an uneven surface like a couch or bed, the controllers can wake themselves up and switch away from hand tracking.

Ensure that you play in a well-lit environment for the most stable tracking. If this isn't an option then you can seamlessly swap to playing with controllers at any time.
